Frequent Sightings of UFOs in China

Multiple Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings have recently been reported across different regions in China. They were spotted from June 30 to July 10 in the northwestern province of Xinjiang, the northeastern city of Changchun, the southeastern city of Hangzhou, and the southern city of Xiamen.

People have been perplexed by UFO sightings for many years. Governments tend to be non committal about their existence, one possibility might be that they fear a mass hysteria if announced that they are real. However, independent UFO researchers known as ufologists, are quick to say that “Yes, UFOs do exist.”

Urumqi Xinjiang : UFO Spotted

Image of UFO captured by a resident in Hangzhou Xianshan district on July 7. (Internet photo) One recent sighting was in Urumqi, Xinjiang province, in northwestern China. At around 11:00 p.m. on June 30, a round, bright object was seen moving slowly eastward, leaving an enormous, fan-shaped trail of white light behind. A photo taken by a local resident was published in the July 5 issue of Xingjiang Metropolitan Daily.

According to Song Huagang, secretary-general of the Xinjiang Astronomical Society, the object was an intercontinental missile launched by the U.S. on June 30.

The "missile theory" was dismissed on July 9 by Wang Sichao, an astronomy researcher from the Zijinshan Astronomical Observatory (also known as Purple Mountain Observatory, under the aegis of the Chinese academy of Sciences.)

Wang told China News Service that it was not a U.S. missile, because Xinjiang and California are more than 7000 km (3450 miles) apart. On viewing the video footage Wang said that the UFO seems to be "somewhat strange," given its exceptionally bright midsection and its fascinating shape.

Hangzhou: Preferred Hangout

China News Service reported on July 8 that the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport in the southeast province of Zhejiang was closed for one hour on July 7, at around 9:00 p.m. Due to a UFO sighting, flights were grounded. According to a witness who was in a plane that was landing, the object looked like a bright twinkling dot, coming and going in the blink of an eye.

Wang Sichao, from the Zhijinshan Astronomical Observatory dismissed the phenomenon, saying, “There is not enough information to draw a conclusion at this time.”

RITUAL EXORCISM: Massed villagers recover 'haunted' women

Kalsin - The fear of phop ghosts brought residents of two villages in Kalasin's Yan Talat district together in a ritual on Wednesday night to exorcise evil spirits from two women and capture 100 phop ghosts in 100 sections of bamboo.

The women, Daeng Somwai, 36, from Ban Kud Or and Kancahan Wangchalee, 31, from Ban Khok Si, displayed symptoms of phop-ghost haunting: trembling bodies, speaking in tongues and suddenly switching from laughing to crying and screaming.

Relatives took them to Wat Donyanang, where the abbot is well known for his exorcisms.

At the temple, surrounded by holy thread, about 300 residents of the two villages attended the ritual.

Earlier, a spirit medium had gone into a trance and declared 100 evil spirits were bent on harming local residents.

They were advised to bring their relatives to join the ritual and remain within the protection of the holy thread.

The exorcism then proceeded, with monks praying and the haunted women being sprinkled with holy water until the 100 evil spirits were summoned and captured in 100 sections of bamboo.

The two women then returned to normal.

Fear and worry over teen girls who go into trance in class

By VEENA BHARWANI

Picture is (C) copyright to ST Damien Tan

IT WAS just an ordinary day in class for Dina (not her real name). The 15-year-old and her classmates were taking notes as their teacher conducted a lesson.

Suddenly, Dina stood up and and started dancing intensely, totally oblivious of her teacher and classmates as they called out to her.

She even lapsed into bouts of anger, like someone who was deeply disturbed.

Fearful of what she would do next, her classmates ran out of the classroom.

A couple of minutes later, Dina collapsed and fainted.

She recovered a short while later and wasn't hurt.

What her friends and teacher did not know was that she had gone into a trance apparently because of her deep involvement in kuda kepang - the traditional Javanese dance of men riding fake horses.

Imam Mohd Azmi Rabbani from Assakirin Mosque, who was called in by the principal of the secondary school to counsel the girls, said the incident last July was not an isolated event.

Another 15-year-old girl from the same school had also apparently gone into a trance in class around the same time, he said.

He said the two had been taking kuda kepang lessons on weekends.

Man pulls plane with his eyelids

A Chinese martial arts expert pulled an aeroplane for five metres - by a rope hooked to his eyelids.

Dong Changsheng, 50, performed the stunt at the Changchun International Exhibition Centre in Jilin province, reports the City Daily newspaper.

It took him less than a minute to pull the half-a-tonne aircraft for five metres.

Dong has been practicing kung fu for nearly 40 years, and has collected numerous awards for his skills.

"I have pulled a car with my eyelids before but this was the first time with an aeroplane," he said.

"To be honest, I didn't use my full strength and I think I could probably pull it three times the distance.

"I have built up the body strength to do this but it would be very dangerous for ordinary people so I don't want anyone to copy me."

Evolution - Walking Sharks

The tiny Epaulette shark is a relatively new discovery, but one that is unique in its style and method of movement.

The “walking” shark, rather than swim around to gather prey, walks across the bottom, using its fins to take it where it wants to go.

The walking shark moves by propelling itself with its fins across the bottom of the water body

Discovered only in 2006 in Indonesia. It is believed to be an entirely new species of shark and one that is well worth exploration, living as it does in only a few restricted areas.

South Korean Professor charged over Holy Water Device

SEOUL (AFP) – A South Korean medical professor who invented a digital device he claimed could transform tap water into holy water is facing fraud charges, Seoul police said Thursday.

Picture is (C) copyright to AFP/File/Noel Celis

They said the professor claimed to have digitally captured the supposed curative powers of holy water on devices that he sold to more than 5,000 people for a total profit of nearly 1.7 billion won (1.3 million dollars).

Eight other people including the professor’s wife and brother-in-law face charges for manufacturing and selling the devices, an officer heading the investigation told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Police said the 53-year-old professor claimed he obtained holy water from the shrine to the Virgin Mary at Lourdes — a world-famous Catholic pilgrimage site in France — and preserved its supposed healing powers in digital form.

Asia being the cradle of humanity?

Science continues to struggle with one of the most basic questions of all: Where did humans come from.

There isn't much question that modern humans came out of Africa, probably in several waves of migration over the past 100,000 years. But it now appears that the ancient ancestors who gave rise to those African humans might have come from Asia.

Until recently the only fossils of anthropoids -- the creatures at the base of the branch of the evolutionary tree that gave rise to primates, including humans -- were found at a place called the Fayum in Egypt. But a growing body of evidence suggests our distant relatives might have developed closer to Cambodia than Cairo.

Just over a month ago, French researchers published a report in the Proceedings of the National Academies of Science, arguing that new analysis of an ankle bone they found a few years ago in Pakistan belonged to a family of anthropoids that predate by millions of years those found in Egypt. Since the 90's, similar fossils have been found in Myanmar, China, and Thailand.

Laurent Marivaux, a French paleontologist who was on the team that found that ankle bone, says emphatically that his interpretation of the fragmentary fossils they found is ''conclusive. They are anthropoids!"

Other anthropologists remain skeptical -- the evidence is far stronger, they say, that early anthropoids evolved in northern Africa. At the Fayum, an incredibly rich multilayered bed of fossils has revealed whole skulls and jaws and teeth and other remains dating back as much as 34 million years that pretty clearly share features with humans, apes, and monkeys, and no other species.

Compared to the evidence found in Egypt, the Asian evidence is ''very incomplete," and less easily interpreted as bearing definite anthropoid characteristics, said John Fleagle, distinguished professor of anatomy at State University of New York at Stony Brook. ''There are hints of anthropoid anatomy in the teeth and the ankle bones of some of the Asian fossils, but the few bits of skull suggest otherwise."

''There isn't much of a consensus in the field today," said Fleagle, also editor of the journal Evolutionary Anthropology. ''There are strong opinions on both sides."

The mammal fossils found in Egypt clearly share features with people, apes, monkeys, and other animals on ''our" branch of the evolutionary tree, said Eric Delson, chairman of the anthropology department at Lehman College of the City University of New York. Those features include eye sockets walled off by bone in the back -- non-anthropoid primates have a bony ridge around the side of their eye socket but no cup in the back; one bone in the front of the skull -- in other mammals, two sections of frontal skull bone aren't fused together until after birth, so there's a seam; and unique placement of teeth in the jaw.

The fossil evidence from Asia is too fragmentary to see these features, Delson said. ''They just don't have the morphological characteristics," he said.

But Marivaux said that because the Asian fossils are much older -- from the middle of the Eocene Era, 55 million to 34 million years ago -- it makes sense that they would have different features. He argues that the much more recent Fayum animals just hadn't evolved those features yet.

The anthropoids he found in South Asia ''are very primitive," he said. ''Why should they display the characteristics of the advanced forms found much more recently [in Egypt]?"

Marivaux's case that the Asian fossils are anthropoids is based on subtle interpretation of the fragments of ankle bones, skull bits, and teeth he and others have found.

''Some people deny the new paleontological evidence. Why? Probably because they are jealous," he said, that he found the fossils and they didn't.

The argument is not purely semantics. Every bit of evidence that connects what came before to what came after helps confirm the progressive steps of evolution, which adds further factual support to the whole theory of evolution. And, as Fleagle said, ''If you're curious about where you came from, and your ancestry, this gives you some insight.

Answering the Asia-versus-Africa question about our most ancient ancestors ''won't throw much light on modern people," Delson added. ''But knowing where the anthropoid branch of primates began may tell us more in terms of filling in the gaps of the general story of human evolution."

Pigeon held in India on suspicion of spying

Indian police are holding a pigeon under armed guard after it was caught on an alleged spying mission for arch rivals and neighbours Pakistan, according to reports in local media.

The white-coloured bird was found by a local resident in India's Punjab state, which borders Pakistan, and taken to a police station 25 miles from the capital Amritsar. The pigeon had a ring around its foot and a Pakistani telephone number and address stamped on its body in red ink.

Ramdas Jagjit Singh Chahal, a police officer, said he suspected that the pigeon had landed on Indian soil from Pakistan with a message, although no trace of a note has been found.

Census records 157 year old indonesian woman

Estimates of the size and composition of Indonesia's booming population may remain just that despite an ongoing census, if the "discovery" of a 157-year-old woman is anything to go by.

Census officials have said they believe the woman's claims to have been born in 1853, when Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata debuted in Venice, the Crimean War erupted and San Francisco got its first street signs at intersections.

"There's no authentic data to prove her age but judging from her statements and the age of her adopted daughter, who's now 108 years old, it's difficult to doubt it," statistics bureau official Jhonny Sardjono said Monday.

The only person verified to have lived past 120 years of age was Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, who died in 1997 at the age of 122.

South Sumatran villager Turinah would be fully 35 years older than Calment when she died, according to officials. Even more incredible, she still works around the house and has smoked clove cigarettes all her life, Mr Sardjono said.

"Despite her age she still has an incredible memory, clear sight and has no hearing problems. She speaks Dutch quite fluently," he said.

Indonesia was a Dutch colony for hundreds of years until 1945.

He said Ms Turinah burnt all her identification documents to avoid being linked to an alleged communist coup in 1965.

Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country with a population of around 240 million people. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has said the census results will be important for future governance.

Mars Once Had Vast Ocean

A NASA survey of the Hellas Panitia on Mars recently found that the massive impact crater spanning 2,000 kilometers across may have once contained a massive sea of liquid water. The finding was the most dramatic yet to suggest that even if it does not now, there is a quickly growing body of evidence to suggest life once existed on the red planet.

he ocean, technically a large lake would have been the perfect place for life to evolve somewhere between 3.5 and 4.5 billion years ago according to researchers at the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson. The study is thus far consistent with all previous studies of Mars at this level of detail and are part of a growing trend in Martian studies to suggest that the Noachian period of Mars' history may have actually supported life on its surface.

Ancient Chinese Drain System Saves City From Flooding

A 900 year-old drainage system has saved a city in south China from severe floods that left more than 100 people dead and a million homeless across the region.

This summer’s torrential rain and flash floods have caused billions of dollars in damage.

Nearly 40 people were killed this week alone in a series of landslides. Even the modern Three Gorges Dam, built to hold back 22 billion cubic meters of floodwater, is expected to be severely tested.

But the 100,000 residents of the ancient city of Ganzhou, in southern China's Jiangxi province, are safe and dry, thanks to two drains built during the Song dynasty, which have proved far more effective than modern sewer systems at coping with the downpour.

Monkeys use trees to catapault themselves out of Japanese laboratory

Monkeys at a research institute in Japan have used the branches of trees to catapault themselves over an electric fence in order to escape.

A group of 15 monkeys at Kyoto University's primate research institute in Aichi Prefecture, which are the focus of a string of high-profile scientific studies, escaped from their forest home which is encased by a 17ft high electric fence.

The monkeys made their bid for freedom by using tree branches to fling themselves one by one over the high voltage electric fence located nearly three metres away.

However, despite the intelligence shown in their great escape, the primates appeared unsure as to what to do with their newfound freedom:

New tribe discovered in Papua New Guinea

A tribe of hunter gatherers living in trees in the remote forests of Indonesia's easternmost Papua region has been discovered for the first time by the country's census, an official said on Thursday.

The nomadic tribe, called Koroway, numbers about 3,000 people speaking their own language and living off animals and plants in the forest, census officials found during the country's 2010 census survey.

"Their houses are in trees, their life is stone age," said Suntono, head of Indonesia's statistics agency for the Papua region, adding the tribe built ladders to huts in tall trees.

After receiving reports from missionaries, census officials needed to walk for up to two weeks to find the tribe, after travelling by boat from the nearest permanent villages, but still only reached the fringes of their territory.

The nearest city to the swampy southeastern corner of Papua is Merauke, the site of a planned giant food estate attracting interest from investors such as Singapore's Wilmar (WLIL.SI) to grow sugar.

Lottery stones at Pudu Jail

Gamblers have been seen going to Pudu Jail to get stone fragments which they believe will help them win the lottery, Harian Metro reports.

Photo: The Star/ANN

A guard at the jail said they believed that stone fragments from the execution room (where hangings took place) could be used to get lucky numbers for the lottery and also to bet during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

He said the execution room was torn down a few months ago and only the room where those on death row were kept before being hanged in Block D was left.

A check by the daily showed that there were pieces of papers with lottery numbers, candles, bottles and lighters all over the floor of the room believed to have been used for black magic.

He said many people visited the jail to collect the stones during the day and at night although the area was cordoned off.

The prison has been partially demolished by UDA Holdings Bhd to make way for a commercial development.

Did the Green Dragon Crescent Blade (關刀) exists?

By Oregon Chang

There are much legends and stories behind the mystries of one of the most legendary weapons of China! Which is the GUAN DAO!

This weapon is comparable to the European fauchard or glaive

This weapon is known by many names.
commonly known as Guan Dao (關刀) but also but by other names such as :
1) Green Dragon Crescent Blade (青龍偃月刀 qīng lóng yǎn yuè dāo)
2) Frost Fair Blade (冷艷鋸lěng yàn jù)

In some stories and believes, it has been said that this Guan Dao (關刀)is a bestow weapon down to earth from the heavens. This weapon has magical properties that can be used to slay all sorts of demons, monsters and evils. It is a weapon feared by dark. Since this weapon was rightfully the owner of Guan Yu (關羽) which is meant to be his by the will of the heavens, this is hence the Guan Dao (關刀)

According to myths, this weapon was forged by the best blacksmith on a full moon night and when this weapon was about to be borned, there was a sudden rising wind howling and blowing strongly and the clounds were gathering closely together tightly clustered. Following next, Nothing more , Nothing less there was exactly 1780 drops of blood dripped from the air.

According to the Local wizards of that time, they explained that it was the blood of the green dragon which flew pass. Therefore this weapon was named as the Green Dragon Crescent Blade 青龍偃月刀 qīng lóng yǎn yuè dāo)

As to why this weapon was also called as the Frost Fair Blade (冷艷鋸lěng yàn jù), some would say that it is because when in battle when there is snow, this blade continuously always had blood fully smeared on it and that a layer of frost blood resulted on the blade.

However, according to findings and researches made by people years later, whether or not this weapon existed during his time raised several doubts and became into a very questionable issue.

During the late Han dynasties, although several weapons came into existance, however most people were riding on horses and fighting with swords. Commonly, there were many short weapons created and popular type would be the Huanshoudao. This led to some into beliving that it could have been a short weapon that Guan Yu had used and that this Guan Dao is being build for Guan Yu martial image.

Historically speaking, it could also have been a dagger-axe that was used by Guan Yu. Similiar Guan Dao like weapons only came into existance during the TANG and SONG dynasties historically and it have been some pop-culture of Guan Yu and the Guan Dao. But again this is no historical proofs that confirms that the GUAN DAO did not exists during his time except for mere speculation.

Typically,Guan Dao (關刀) is a very heavy weapon in which it is commonly potraied that it takes 3 normal size soldiers to carry this one weapon to him but Guan Yu would however hold it without any difficultly with just one single hand.

However, this may not be that exggerating. This weapon is probably in actual fact, weighing 82 Chinese jin (estimated 18.263 kg. a Han Dynasty jin equals 222.72 grams in metric system). But there are however much historicans who believed that the GUAN DAO weighted much heavier than that. In fact during the Qing dynsty there are even heavier ones which is up to 80, 100, or 120 jin (48, 60 or 72 kg, using the modern value for 1 jin = approximately .6 kg). For a candidate to pass, the Guan Dao was first weapon used by them before advancing to heavier ones.

This weapon is can be both used on by a horseman and by the infantry as an anti-personnel and anti-cavalry weapon.

This awesome and legendary weapon to present still remains as a historical mystry if it ever exists.

The 5 Most Notable Examples of Demonic Possession and Exorcism

All major religions do include belief in existence of demons. Demons are described as spiritual beings who cannot be seen by humans because they are not created from visible materials.

Despite the fact that all monotheistic religions condemn any contact with demons and their interference with humans, the demon possession of a human being is not so rare instance. Some psychical diseases like schizophrenia are often linked to demonic possession.

For example, Christianity and Islam have pretty detailed methods of curing those who are possessed. Of course, non-believers will deny even the existence of such creatures, but we are not going to discus that in this article.

We are going to write here about some of known examples of possible demonic possession and most of them teach us that playing with Satanic rituals and similar thing never ends good even if plenty of media are showing those things like funny and entertaining. If you want to stay away from troubles, do not try any kind of Satanic ritual or speaking with dead or demons because all that you can get are serious problems which often can have fatal consequences.

The Takla Makan Mummies in China

In the late 1980's, perfectly preserved 3000-year-old mummies began appearing in a remote Chinese desert. They had long reddish-blond hair, European features and didn't appear to be the ancestors of modern-day Chinese people. Archaeologists now think they may have been the citizens of an ancient civilization that existed at the crossroads between China and Europe.

Mummies from the Wupu cemetery

This mummified man was approximately 40 years old at the time of his death.

Mummies of "Tomb 2"

This mummy of a woman, who was approximately 40-years old, was found in the main chamber of the same tomb. Her tall stature, high nose, and red hair indicate that she was of European descent.

This mummy of a young woman was found in 1989. Based on her partially dismembered limbs and gouged out eyes, Chinese archaeologists believe she was a sacrificial victim.

What Do you Think of Fengshui Predictions?

It is my pleasure to visit Singapore again to feel the power of water there. In feng shui, we said 山管人丁水管财 Hill controls the people and water governs the wealth. Basically, Singapore is located on a piece of flat land and you can hardly see any hill there, thus, Singapore has to depend heavily on its water as there is no hill to be depended on. The Singapore Government has done an excellent in clearing the Singapore River as it is one of the 'main doors' of Singapore

Sands Skypark - new casino in Singapore which looked like a ship in the sky. The ship is facing the direction away from Singapore and not toward the inland of Singapore. This indicates that the Sands Casino is hoping to gain the profit and ship it back to its head office which is not in Singapore

The Tang Plaza or the Marriott Hotel in the Orchid Road is with the shape of bagua and you can actually see there are lots of bagua surrounding the building. There are bagua on the floor, the ceiling and even the entrance. It is a way to avoid any unwanted or inauspicious qi. Even though the owner of the property was in fact a Christian.

How come Sentosa is Haunted?

BY : ShiJie

Sentosa is a very popular place many of us like to go to. But did you know that it is a very haunted island?

The old name of Sentosa is Pular Blakang Mati which literally means dead from the behind. There are alot of myths to how did this island got such a name. No one is however sure which is the actual and correct one.

But one thing for sure, this old name did brought about curse to the main island of Singapore in history unknown to many. One of such examples was that during WW2 when the British Colonial Masters expected a sea attack by the Japanese and placed all their defences to the south of Singapore to protect Singapore there in the front, the Japanese attacked from land , and caught the British soldiers by suprise when they were attacked by the Japanese from the behind.

Pular Blakang Mati was an island of fruits in originally. All over this island, it is all fruits. But however, mysteriously there was some graves in which no one has the explaination of who they were and how they appear there.

The first settlers to appear on Pular Blakang Mati was the Bugis from what we call as Indonesia today. When they arrived ashore to settle down , what they initially did not noticed was these graves directly behind of them , which was not very far from where they touched down from.

They set up their own fishing village somewhere in the front of these grave even to make things worst.

Just when they thought they were going to have a peaceful life , such peaceful life in this fruit island was short lived. Soon Pirates from the Malay archipelago arrived! they decided to established and transformed Pular Blakang Mati island to be their pirate's Headquarters.

These pirtates arrived from ashore directly from behind these Bugis fishing villagers. The villagers were caught by suprised when they were attacked by the pirates from behind. A very magnificient and epic battle occured as a result. Although these villagers proved to be tough and good fighters, they were still however no match agaisnt the pirates. The Pirates won! Their HQ was established in this island of Pular Blakang Mati!

Pular Blakang Mati island was then transfromed into a Treasure island, ever since.

Frankly speaking I also really wonder what happen to those treasures? mayb in the process of history they were looted and have become missing.

Years laters, Singapore was Colonized by the British! As a matter of time, an extremely fierce naval battle took place near the seas of Pular Blakang Mati island and the pirates were wiped out by the British.

Each time when battle took place, more and more graves will appear in this island, mysteriously. however, most of the battles took place near the coast of the beach or the waters near to the island. Hence, more people died in the waters than on the land.

Years laters after the extermination of the Pirates, epidemic took place on this island very suddenly and it was just so close to have taken the lives of every single people living in this island to the last man standing. But however again the cure arrived fast and the population of those surviving ones was saved.

Some people even called Pular Blakang Mati island , an island of death while others called it a haunted island, perhaps due to too many deaths and hauntings happenning in this island in the flow of history.

Years later again, World War 2 took place. Singapore was taken from the behind. Pular Blakang Mati island became into one of those execution grounds of those POW(s) and anti Japanese etc...

these people were brought to be shot to death at the coast of the beach shores. some who wanted to escaped ran into the waters adn were either drowned to death or slashed and hacked to death by the Japanese who ran after them into the water using their swords.

The number of deaths of those who died in the waters was really alot! Hence , the type of ghosts that Sentosa had the most is actually Water ghosts! ghosts on the land was not as much as those in the waters.

Some people believed that Pular Blakang Mati was the initial intention of General Yamshita to have the treasures looted from all parts of Asia to be stored here and then transported to Japan and not in the Luzon islands of philippines.

This island was renamed to be as Sentosa which means peace and tranquility in malay. Even since then, the fate of this island and Main land Singapore Changed forever! Most likely, even since the change in name and developments and human activities in Sentosa since 1972 to present, the curse has already been broken.

Sentosa island is today very safe , generally speaking regardless during the day or night. However, do bare in mind of one thing, during the night, DO NOT TOO CLOSE TO THE WATERS. KEEP SOME DISTANCE FROM THE WATERS! IT IS VERY OKAY TO HAVE A WALK IN THE BEACH AT NIGHT BUT PLEASE DO NOT BE TOO NEAR TO THE WATERS. THE WATER GHOST ARE STILL LOOKING FOR REPLACEMENTS AND SUBSITUTES!

Fengshui Master's Viewpoint on Merlion Struck by lightning

The Toto optimists see it as a sign that the worst is over for Singaporeans, speculating that the Merlion could have - heroically - sucked the 'suay' (bad luck) out of our way forward.

Who you gonna believe? Who you gonna call?

We called the fengshui experts - and were left as dumbstruck (pardon the pun) as our precious Merlion.

The geomancy experts, too, were divided.
Geomancer John Lok, who runs Fengshui0011.com, said the event could have positive implications.

'As the Merlion was hit by light on its head, it could signify that Singaporeans will be able to see more clearly, as this is a wake-up call to all Singaporeans.

'This year - the (Chinese) zodiac Year of the Ox - has a sign which represents 'ugly' or 'clown'. As a result, there will be some superficial events occurring, such as the lightning strike on the Merlion

Picture is (C) copyright to Asiaone Travel

Another geomancer, Master Lim Koon Hian of San Yen Geomancy Centre, agreed. He said the event signified that Singaporeans would experience a wake-up call, and a greater understanding of events around them.

Fengshui master Gwee Kim Woon, who runs Fulu Geomancy Centre, told Lianhe Wanbao that the lightning strike had only damaged a small portion of the Merlion's head, and not the entire head.

'This could mean that it has averted a more serious disaster,' he said.

He added that, judging from the Merlion's position, it is possible that the lightning strike could bring about a release of good fortune in Singapore.

He explained that the lightning strike could be interpreted as the 'ignition' of wealth and luck for Singapore.

Minister's view on Merlion Struck by lightning

Part of Merlion's skull fell apart after a Lightning Bolt struck its head on Saturday. (See above picture)

Following the strike, an emergency cabinet meeting was organized as ministers tried to make sense of what is going on. Minister of Home Affairs, Wong Kan Seng, was however not present as he was still hiding in a small corner of his home hoping that no one will notice that the one year anniversay of The Great Escape had recently passed. He, however, sent a written note to the meeting asking if he will lose his job over the Lightning Bolt.

Picture is (C) copyright to Asian Correspondent

On the other hand, Conspiracy Theorists online discussed the uncanny resemblance between the shape of lightning bolt which struck the Merlion and the PAP party's lightning bolt. "Look. Both have the same zig zag shape. How can this be a coincidence? Could it be that our leaders are actually behind the attack on the Merlion?" wondered a Mr Tan aloud before he was knocked out and dragged away by masked ISD forces. His current whereabouts remain unknown.

Another credible rumour on the internet is that the government has hired a top team of geomancers and fengshui masters to correct the disturbance in the fengshui force field caused by the lightning strike to the Merlion.

The Merlion struck was but one of the five Merlions originally placed around Singapore in strategically important positions to ensure the smooth flow of chi around Singapore and to create an atmosphere conducive for earning money. As such, the team of geomancers and fengshui masters will be given pay pegged to the top earners of the public sector to compensate them for their great service to Singapore's economy.

Studies on the supernatural

DUE to the lack of concrete evidence, sceptics tend to put down accounts of hauntings to the workings of an overactive imagination.

But what if one chose to look into these claims based on logical reasoning?

Welcome to the field of parapsychology, where so-called paranormal phenomena is investigated by using scientific methods.

While it is worth noting that these researchers are a far cry from the "ghost-hunters" seen on television, parapsychology has routinely come under criticism for being a pseudo-science.

A senior lecturer at the Koestler Parapsychology Unit (KPU) at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr Caroline Watt feels that her fellow scientists should not be so quick to judge.

"Parapsychologists are studying the subject and testing hypotheses in a carefully controlled and scientific manner," she says in an e-mail interview.

"I think those who have bothered to take the time to read the research literature in parapsychology are pleasantly surprised to find that the methodology is quite sophisticated."

However, she admits that one of the area's weaknesses is that it lacks a well-established theory to help guide research questions.

Feng Shui Design in world's most expensive casino project

The Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort (IR) is the biggest and most expensive development project ($5.4 billion on 50.9-acre prime waterfront site near the financial district,) undertaken in Singapore. It is also the world's most expensive casino project so far. Usually the undertaking of a major construction project like this in the country is an indicator of excessive market confidence. It usually precedes a major market top with a fierce recession following close behind. But life goes on, and in 2-5 years, you can expect business to be booming like never before.

Geomancer Victor Li, who has worked with The Raffles Hotel and The Grand Hyatt Singapore, said: "On their own, the three tall buildings look like three ancestral tablets and, with the sky garden, it looks like a broken flyover, with 'neither head nor tail'." He said the Mandarin phrase 'neither head nor tail' has a negative connotation, usually used to describe things that are incomplete and imperfect.

Geomancer Gwee Kim Woon says that the buildings are positioned in the shape of a bat and the Mandarin work for “bat” sounds similar to “luck”, so that is good news.

World’s biggest observation wheel direction change because of Fengshui reason

SINGAPORE -- Officials in Singapore have changed the direction of the world’s biggest observation wheel because feng shui masters said it was taking good fortune away from the city, a report said Saturday. The

Picture is (C) copyright to biolife.wordpress.com

Singapore Flyer, which opened earlier this year, had originally revolved so that it rose to face the business district and went down overlooking the sea, the Strait Times newspaper said.

However, masters of the ancient Chinese art of geomancy convinced the wheel’s management to reverse it so that it was not taking fortune away from the city.

“A number of feng shui masters had approached us to tell us that the Flyer is on the perfect site to pick up the good qi (energy) flowing into Singapore, but it was going in the wrong direction,” said Florian Bollen, the Singapore Flyer’s chairman.

“The Flyer was going against the sun and taking fortune away from Singapore.”

Real Life Stories of Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary was Mary Tudor, Queen of England, and daughter of King Henry the 8th and Catherine of Aragon. All her life, she was a mean brat to her little sister, Elizabeth and her brother Edward VI. She did not like them at all and was very jealous. When Edward VI died, she became Queen Mary of England. She was hated all over for changing the religion in England from Protestant to Roman Catholic. She mass-murdered over 100 Protestant leaders, earning her name as "Bloody Mary".

And yes, I have seen Bloody Mary. My friends and I decided to try it out. This is what we did:

1) We went into the bathroom.

2) Turned out the lights.

3) Ran the water.

4) Spun around 3 times saying "Bloody Mary."

5) Closed our eyes and held hands until we heard anything. (not saying this way is right or wrong, we just did it like that.)

There was a low 'thump' and we opened our eyes. There was a bloody dark-haired girl covered in blood. But it was very very dark, so very hard to tell. All she did was look at us, like an image painted on the mirror. Then we got scared and turned on the light, and whatever it was, was gone.
This is the true story of Bloody Mary.

One day in October, we were staying in a hotel when my friend, Kendra was telling us that if you want to do Bloody Mary in a group, that you need to link arms, hold hands and chant "Bloody Mary" fifty times in a pitch-black room. A mirror was needed and our hotel room had a large one. When we did this, it took us several tries because everyone was freaking out. We all knew when we finally got it. We were trapped in a green fog and soon fell silent.

All of the sudden, my friends were with me, covered in blood. Then, they dropped dead. That sent me running down a long corridor that never seemed to end. After seeing huge pictures of the murder victims on the wall, I looked over my shoulder and saw a young girl in a long, black cloak. Her head was floating six inches from the cloak and she had long, white hair, dripping with blood. Her face was white with red, bloodshot eyes. She was chanting "Bloody Mary." I was trying to scream but I couldn't because the green fog was choking me. I saw that she had a long, rusty knife, dripping with blood. She was about to stab me!

I tried again to scream. When I looked forward, I noticed a large door at the end of the corridor, so I went faster. This made the figure angry and she multiplied, and all of them came at me with knives. Then, everything went completely dark... All of the sudden, the lights came on and I was being shaken by my friends. They said that I had turned purple, then white, causing them to panic. When they touched me, I fell over. They thought I was dead! I was completely exhausted and fell asleep. The next morning, I asked my friends if they had seen what I did. They said that they had phased out when they was the scary murder pictures. It was only a couple days ago and I still have a pale face...

Haw Par Villa - The Most Disturbing Theme Park in Singapore

Haw Par Villa, formerly called Tiger Balm Gardens, is a majestic land of ancient Chinese mythology to teach and preserve Chinese values. It boasts the infamous walk-through display illustrating the Ten Courts of Hell. The figures tell a chilling tale of life after death The Park’s colorful collection of over 1,000 statues and 150 giant tableaux centered on Chinese folklore, legends, history, and Confucian ideology .

The Legend of Hell

Here goes the legend about the 10 Courts of Hell.

Buddhists believe that reincarnation is a form of reward a retribution on their journey to Nirvana. The Ten Courts of Hell are purgatory where a person is sent to be punished for the sins and misdeeds of their past life. A sinner must go through all Ten Courts and in the tenth, final judgment will determine his form of reincarnation.

The legend of the Ten Courts of Hell tells of the punishment that await sinners after their death but before reincarnation is determined. The sinner is sent to 'hell' where he will be tormented by demonic-looking 'Yama attendants' for the misdeeds he has committed in his past life.

In purgatory, the Ten Courts of Hell are a labyrinth of infernal dungeons, each presided over by a judge who is known as the 'President' and a Registrar of Life and Death. The Presidents are recognized by their long black beards and square flat hats from which hang strings of beads. Registrars record the details of the punishment and hold a brush and set of documents.

The sinner will go through nine courts before judgment is finally reached. In each of the nine courts, he is punished for the particular sin that he has committed.

In the First Court of Hell, the virtuous are led over a golden bridge to paradise. The silver bridge to paradise is for those whose good deeds during their life outweighed the bad. Evil doers - the ones we have really come to see - are sent to repent before the Mirror of Retribution (where all their past sins are revealed to them) and then taken to a court of hell for punishment.

Was It a Lion or a Rock That Prince Sang Nila Utama saw?

Sang Nila Utama, the legendary prince from Palembang (Sumatra), might have mistaken this lion-like rock

Picture is (C) copyright to EARTH

As we know it, lions do not occur in S.E. Asia, and how it got into our popular folklore is anybody's guess. At least, the 'lion' should mystify and excite impressionable young history learners and cause them to wonder what other animal it could have been that Sang Nila Utama saw, or whether it was an animal at all. However, none of this folklore is as incredulous as our modern-day fabrication of the

Merlion - which is truly laughable. Even if necessity dictates the evolution of an iconic folklore to bring in the extra tourist dollar, I think we could have been more sophisticated in tale-spinning, and give Singaporeans greater credence for creativity on the world's stage. Folk history can do with a huge dose of inspiration from the vibrant natural history still found in Singapore. And we can take a lesson from this lion-rock.

Nepal's 'Living Goddess' passes acid test

KATHMANDU: An extraordinary 15-year-old girl, who never went to school after being chosen as a 'Kumari' or 'Living Goddess' of Nepal revered by thousands of Hindus and Buddhists, has created history by becoming the first goddess to pass the tough school-leaving examination that leaves thousands floundering every year.

Chanira Bajracharya, one of the three 'Kumaris' of Kathmandu valley, became even more god-like in the eyes of people on Saturday after the results of the dreaded School Leaving Certificate examination were declared and she was announced to have passed with "distinction", having secured over 80 percent marks.

Chanira, the Kumari of Lalitpur city, becomes the first reigning living goddess to have passed Nepal's "Iron Gate" examination.

It is an extraordinary feat considering that out of the over 385,000 students who took the examination, only 64.31 percent made the grade. In Chanira's case it is even more extraordinary considering that she never went to school and wrote her test from her official "sacred" chamber in her intricate official robes.

The Kumaris, regarded as the incarnation of a Hindu goddess of power, Taleju Bhavani, are selected from a Buddhist community on the basis of 32 auspicious signs, which in the past included having a horoscope compatible with that of the king of Nepal.

Fengshui Examples of Singapore

Singapore’s good fortune has been attributed to the persistent practice of feng shui by Singapore’s then Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew. He became Prime Minister just after the Singapore became Independent, when it was one of the poorest countries.

With the help of one of the best feng shui masters in the world, he helped Singapore’s stunning growth.

The single most prominent symbol of Singapore’s dedication to feng shui is undoubtedly, Suntec City (from Chinese “suntec” means “new achievement”). It was built according to feng shui principals to bring fortunes and success. It consists of 6 buildings (4 tall, skinny ones, 1 short and 1 wide convention centre) are intentionally positioned that way to resemble the shape of the human left hand. Left hand being the symbol of authority, pointing towards Singapore’s financial district at Raffles Place, commanding all of Singapore’s good financial opportunities to come forward…

Thousands flock to Vietnam termite 'Buddha'

HANOI, Friday 2 July 2010 (AFP) - Thousands of Vietnamese have converged on a rubber farm after the discovery of a termite's nest resembling the image of Buddha, an official from the rubber company said Friday.

"Police and local authorities asked them to leave but others keep coming," Vo Van Cuong, of the Rubber Company of Ben Cat, told AFP.

He said thousands of people from southern Binh Duong province and neighbouring areas had rushed to the forest site since Wednesday.

The 40-centimetre (16-inch) tall nest resembles Buddha sitting in meditation, Dantri International news website reported.

Pictures posted by Dantri showed incense, flowers and other offerings placed before the object which had attracted a crowd.

"According to rumours, it's the sacred land of Buddhism, and they have come here to pray," Cuong said.

"I think it is a very good omen presented to us from above and that's why many people have travelled a great distance to come here and worship the Buddha," Dantri International quoted Hoang Thi Minh, a local resident, as saying.

Buddhism is the main religion in communist Vietnam and at least 70 percent of the population are followers.

Attacked by Japanese Ghost Army

From a SAF Regular

Dear AP readers,
I am a sign on regular and have a story to share. The location where this place happened, the camp that i am from and the unit i am in will not be revealed !

Basically it was a military exercise during that night! we were doing some shooting with our rifiles. We used blanks. Basically they were empty bullets and not the real bullets.

After our shooting ended, something unexpected happened !
Deep in the forest of the dark night just in front of us in the direction where which we were earlier shooting, a jeep like image appeared  and the next thing we knew,  we were all very aggressively under serious attack by something unknown.

We had to take cover immediately from whatever or whoever that was attacking and shooting at us. After some time an order was being issued to us to return fire.

We shoot back at them this time, using whatever we got against them! After a while there was a cease fire by both end. when the cost is finally clear we went to take a look and to explore around.

We picked up the bullet shells of the mysterious enemy that earlier attacked at us. The bullet shells does not belong to any of our people. it was definately not any that this used by the SAF for sure!

It was then this time that someone managed to identified the attackers from the empty bullet shells we had found! mind you, these bullet shells were very hot as they are fresh from a real rifile. the identified attackers was a ghost army !

They were the Japanese ghost soldiers of  WW2! the bullet shell were of those used by them during the japanese occupation of world war 2!

To think back again after we had our attackers identified, we sort of saw some vivid images of them earlier during the attack and them cocking and reloading their weapons upon firing.

How freeky this sure is!!!!!

How come Pular Tekong is Haunted?

From : Kanjiong Spider
Why is Pular Tekong so Haunted?

The island of Pular Tekong today is a military trainning camp and it is an absoluted extremely haunted island. There are too many areas in the island that is very haunted.

However did you ever wonder why is it haunted? what has happened to cause it to be haunted?
I have something to share on the history and reasons for it's hauntedness.

Originally it was an island of malay fishing villagers with much graves and cemetary before colonial period. Hunting was a very common thing in this little island. However, after Singapore was colonized, it became into prison camp! All of the most notorious convicts, criminals, & prisoners of the British colony were being dumped there.

these outlaws and prisoners were no oridinary prisoners. They are not at all simple! One fine day, there was a prison outbreak in the camp there! The prisoners had staged a rebellion to escape from the prison camp. The British prison warddens was absoluted no match for the prisoners. They were overpowered by the prisoners.

Finally the British send in their best Naval fleet to had an absolute total annihilation on the escapists and rebels. It sure was a very ferocious battlle from both sides. It was a blood shed fight. Eventually after a long battle, the British finally won but however suffered heavy losses.

Years later it became into one of the execution grounds during the Japanese occupation. It was also a labor camp of the POW(s) at the same time.

Finally after the war, this island was abandon island where almost no one paid attention to for sometime before it finally became into a Military camp for trainning of the NSF(s).

it was not a pleasant move in when the island was converted into a military trainning camp. Much things happened since that day till present. There was also much unknown stories in the island that explains the existing ghosts.

All these unpleasant events that took place in history explains why this is an haunted island.

Executioner tells of eerie goings on

DESPITE his humble and polite demeanour, Kesavan A. Arumugam is a man who can strike fear in the heart of the most-hardened prisoner. The reason - he was an executioner who spent the first month of his working career on attachment in Pudu Prison.

Although he spent much of his career in the Kajang Prison, he was recalled to Pudu Prison whenever there were executions. He said he had performed about four executions in Pudu before the department started to carry out the sentence in Kajang.

He remembers Pudu Prison as it was there that he both witnessed and carried out his first execution.

He explains that there was a team involved, and his task was to handcuff the prisoner, place a hood over him, escort the condemned from their cell to the execution chamber, where their legs would be tied and the noose placed over their neck.

"Basically, I did everything except pull the lever (to release the trap door). That was another person's job," he says.

The hangings at Pudu Prison, he says, were eerie affairs.

"The corridors were narrow and the lighting was dim, adding to the eeriness of the execution. There was a chill about the place."

The gallows he says, were very old as the trapdoor worked with a pulley system and the creaking made it all seem unreal and scary.

The execution chamber at the Kajang prison works on a hydraulic system which is quieter and more efficient. And the place is much brighter, he adds.

Taking a human life is not for the faint hearted, but Kesavan says he has no regrets about having carried out the job.

"After an execution you do feel tense. Usually I would avoid people, and an adjustment of the mind was needed. But after a few days I would feel better," he says.

"I believe that I did what I did for the benefit of the nation. Those people had already exhausted all avenues of law, and I only did the final bit.

"Since I was able to interact with the prisoners, I learnt what they had done and I do not feel bad," says Kesavan.

He has his own scary tale to tell, involving Mohd Affandi Abdul Rahman, who along with his bomoh wife Mona Fandey, had been sentenced to death for the murder of Batu Talam state assemblyman Datuk Mazlan Idris.

Affandi, he says, had asked him to bring him a rose bud.

"When I eventually did, Affandi put it on his palm and recited a few words. And the rosebud flew round and round," he claimed.

"I know it's unbelievable but I saw it."

He says Affandi then asked for a bottle of water, tore the rosebud into bits, put it in the bottle and gave it to him as a magic potion.

"However, I did not want anything to do with that. And I left the bottle at the officer's area," he says.

Psychic Parakeet Mani predicts Dutch Emerge Victory

A crowd of football fans lean forward as Mani, Singapore’s World Cup-forecasting parakeet, creeps out of his small wooden cage and chooses between two white cards - one hiding the flag of the Netherlands, the other Spain.

If the bird’s many new believers are right, Holland will win its first World Cup championship on Sunday. Mani grabbed a card in his beak on Friday and flipped it over to reveal the Dutch flag.

Picture is (C) copyright to The Hindu

Mani the parakeet (or parrot as we know them in India) is an astrologer's assistant in Singapore's Little India and has become quite the local celebrity when he correctly predicted the outcome of the quarterfinal ties as well as the semifinals.

Chomping on seeds and apples between cards, the Malaysian-born Mani hopped out of his cage and made a beeline for Uruguay, the Netherlands, Spain and Germany.

“People usually want help picking the lottery numbers, or when to get married,” said Muniyappan, who was born in India and moved to Singapore in 1953. “Then gamblers started asking about the World Cup.”

Muniyappan said about 30 people a day now pay for his psychic powers, up from about 10 a day before Mani shot to fame.

Did karaoke versions of Sinatra's My Way provoke killings in the Philippines?

At least half a dozen have reportedly been killed after renditions of the 1967 song, forcing bars to take it off their song lists.

Frank Sinatra’s classic “My Way” has been blamed on a series of karaoke bar murders in the Philippines.

Over the past decade, the Philippines has been stung by a series of killings all reportedly provoked by karaoke versions of Frank Sinatra's My Way. At least half a dozen people have been murdered after singing the tune at karaoke, according to the New York Times.

Local media call them "My Way killings", and they are occurring in some of the Philippines' thousands of karaoke-filled bars, cafés and restaurants. Someone gets up, clears his or her throat, and chooses My Way from a list of songs. The lyrics appear on a screen, the music begins to play - and the trouble begins.

"The trouble with My Way is that everyone knows it and everyone has an opinion," Rodolfo Gregorio, an amateur singer from General Santos, told the newspaper. Some performers get into fights with their critics. Some are rude, some jump forward in line, and some simply sing out of tune. "I used to like My Way but after all the trouble, I stopped singing it," Gregorio said. "You can get killed."

Is Feng Shui Fact or Fiction?

So what is Feng Shui exactly? basically Feng Shui is a system that involves a set of guidelines for creating harmony and balance in your living and working environment. There are many ways in which the Chinese masters of Feng Shui worked out how to create positive Chi(energy). From placing furniture in a certain way and place, to hanging certain ornaments in particular areas.

I had a bit to do with Feng Shui many years ago when I owned a hairdressing salon. My partner at the time got right into it, she studied all the books an even got the assistance of a Feng Shui consultant in to set up the shop and house. I'm still to this day sitting on the fence on the subject. I'm open to everything and I witnessed enough occasions where Feng Shui certainly looked to be an exact science. For example when ever a light bulb would blow in the salon, clients would decrease, at first I thought it was just a coincidence, but it happened to many times and my partner was always quick to point it out.

Why do Dogs run away?

By : ShiJie

Usually in the morning I am among those who arrives early for work.
The Company had 2 very big guard dogs guarding the company in the night.

The 2 dogs are usually very friendly towards me. However there was once , on a friday morning of July 9th 2010, they so very different from usual.

That day, I was dressed up all in black, some of colleagues say i look so much like those Japanese ninja seem in TV dramas and movies, just that i do have any weapons and i am unmasked.

when the dogs saw me that day, their expression and reactions seems as if they were very frightened and scared.

They were barking at me but again it seems like maybe it was not me but something that is very near to me. the dogs never barked at me before. this is the very first time.

each time they barked , they would step backwards. they seem to be looking at something. i tried to step forward closer towards them, they both immediately went backwards even further!

it really does not seem very correct ! It should the case of humans afraid of dogs and not the opposite way. Furthermore, they are guard dogs!

People usually say that dogs can see ghosts, not too sure if it is true, but maybe it is. However i thought that people say ghosts are afraid of dogs and dogs would barked and chase after the ghost when they see one?

It certainly got to be me! the dogs were facing my direction and barking at something, either it is me or something very close to me.

After the person who has the company gates opened the door and I enter the gates, instead of the dogs dashing towards my direction which was something i am expecting, they both immediately run away like anything when i enter the gates and walk towards thier direction.

How very strange this really is! What really happen? What is it that they saw?

Anyone out here has any explainations?

India's TAJ MAHAL is AN EXAMPLE OF BAD FENG SHUI ?

From the history books we have learnt that after the Taj Mahal was completed, Shah Jahan became seriously ill, leading to a violent battle for succession among his sons. A year later he was deposed and imprisoned at the Agra Fort, from where he could look wistfully at the magnificent Taj. It was at the Fort that Shah Jahan died in captivity.

As Octopus Ponders Final Choice, Parrot Tips Dutch to Take World Cup

German, Dutch and Spanish television stations are preparing to broadcast live from an aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany, on Friday, when an octopus named Paul, whose handlers claim he can predict the outcome of World Cup soccer matches, will attempt to call the last two games of the tournament.

The spokesman for another animal with a growing reputation for soccer punditry, a parrot in Singapore named Mani — who has worked as a fortuneteller’s assistant for years — was far more confident about his associate’s abilities.

Speaking to a Reuters crew that visited Singapore’s Little India district on Thursday to film Mani’s prediction of Sunday’s World Cup final, Mani’s handler assured the news agency, “I believe 100 percent, whatever he picks will be right.” Mani, who normally helps customers predict the course of their romantic and financial lives, then stepped before the camera and turned over a card with the Dutch flag on it.
